Nash & Jones Trophy Information: US Sailing has mandated that all qualifiers for the Bemis( double-handed junior championship) and the Symthe (single-handed junior championship)  be done at the Area level (in our case Area A).  This is what many of the other districts around the country do already.  So to qualify for the Bemis or Symthe this year, the best junior boats at the Area As get to go.  That is the same as last year.  The change is that anyone can go to the Area As (you don't have to qualify through a local sailing association regattas like the Nash or Jones).  The Area A regatta this year is Marblehead Junior Race Week.  I think that was chosen b/c the actual Bemis and Sythme are in Marblehead the week afterwards.  SMSA decided to award the Nash and Jones trophies to the best finishing SMSA boats at that regatta (Marblehead Junior Race Week).

I hope that helps clarify a confusing situation. If further clarification is needed, please let me know
