US Powerboat Training Courses:
Starting April 1, 2026, Massachusetts law mandates that all motorboat operators must pass an approved boating safety course to receive a certificate, per the Hanson-Milone Boating Safety Act. Those born after Jan. 1, 1989, must comply by April 1, 2026, while those born on or before that date have until April 1, 2028, with enforcement beginning Sept. 1, 2026.
