Commodore Joseph E. Small Memorial Trophy

SM Sailing Singlehanded Championship

In 1965, the fourth National District trophy, the Commodore Joseph E. Small Memorial Trophy, was placed in competition. "Joe" Small was Commodore of the Bass River Yacht Club from 1932 to 1948, President of SMYRA during 1940 and 1947, and chairman of hte National District Championship Committee from 1948 until the time of this death in 1963. This trophy is awarded to the skipper from a member sailing organization of SM Sailing who attains the lowest point score in the district finals for the National Singlehanded Championship.

In 2001, US Sailing did away with the ladder format for their regattas.  This trophy was retired at that time.
